The White Olive was opened in March 2006 by Simone and Le Ping Wong. We decided on a modern Italian theme as there was no Italian restaurant in Murwillumbah.
We started with a fixed menu comprising pastas, entrees, mains and desserts with a daily changing “specials” menu. After six months we found that our many regular customers would look directly to the “specials” menu. From that, we decided to run from a whiteboard menu that changed weekly or sometimes more often according to the availability of fresh produce and the whim of the chef.
Some dishes can almost always be found due to their popularity – among these, twice cooked duck (with changing sauce), scallops in the shell with parmesan, anchovy and breadcrumb crust, veal with macadamia, pistachio and walnut cream sauce, maple syrup and mixed nut slice and lavender panna cotta.
With an extensive family and personal background in hospitality, our aim has always been to provide food and service of a consistently high standard and our many accolades and awards are testament to that fact.
